Tree nut allergy onset?

I'm 50 yrs old, been eating cashews all my life. No problems. Just recently, noticed a constriction in my throat (and slight difficulty breathing) after injesting cashews. But I'm not positive if the nuts are the cause or something else in my system. Has anyone ever heard of tree nut allergies starting suddenly after a life time of having no problems with nuts?

Thanks

Yes, food allergies can start later in life.
There are different ways to process nuts, such as dry roast or frying, which could be a factor.
There are lots of other kinds of nuts, try them.

Ah...welcome to the world of food allergies. I've eaten all of my food allergies all of my life as well. I just recently found out 4 years ago at the age of 37. Now I am allergic to Wheat, Dairy, Peanuts, Shrimp, Scallops, Strawberries, Oranges, Stringbeans, Mushrooms, and Bananas. The stringbeans mushrooms and bananas begining at the age of 40. So yes. It is very possible to be suddenly allergic after all these years. It's very aggravating and at times you wonder. "Am I making something for dinner that will kill me?" Or "What will I be allergic to next." It's a scary feeling. Have a food allergy test for your cashews.
