Seems like you have recieved a lot of good advice so far.... I can add only a few things. First, I was allergic to many things as a child, including all nuts and peanuts. My mother, like you I imagine, was very dilligent in protecting me form these allergies and read lables carefully asothers have advised. One thing that I haven't seen recommended to you, which is a vital part in the care of your child is to select a competent Allergist. They will perform a comprehensive allergy test and give you great advice and dietary tips for protecting your child. My allergy to nuts was severe and led to anaphylaxis if ingested. I would stop breathing and turn blue. Obviously this only had to happen once for my mom to take all the nessesary steps to protect me. I think it is great that you are seeking information from various sources to take care of your family. Best of luck. On a positive note when puberty hit almost allof my allergies dissapeared. This is a common occurence in males, unfortunately if this does happen, in their mid to late 30's it comes back. Hope this helped.

Not allergic to nuts thankfully cos do love em....but only advice I can give is educate your 4 year old early so he can know the signs of his allergy and to look out on packaging to avoid anything containing nuts or produced in a place where nuts are present.

No i'm not allergic to nuts...fortunately but i guess your son just has to stay away from nuts and nut products or those products that may contain nuts......

my 4year old nephew is allergic to a lot of things including nuts. he has an injection pen for when he breaks out in an allergy or in case he goes into anaphylatic shock. he knows what he can and cant eat and there are special doctors called immuneologists i think who specialise in allergys. he was at one yesterday for the 1st time and has to go back for some skin prick tests.
go see your gp and see what they say.

I'm allergic to all types of nuts. I would suggest to read all labels of food you buy (especially chocolate!) and you should be alright.

My daughter, who is 15 is allergic to all nuts. She has to walk around with an Eppi pen. Everyone she is around on a daily basis knows they cannot have these things around her. The oils and dust from the nuts is just as dangerous as consuming them. She is a baseball fan - sitting in Yankee Stadium with every one eating peanuts is nerve racking ! Always read all food labels. Although they may not have nuts etc. in them they may have been processed in a facility which uses them on other products - there will be a warning on the label. Also, be very, very careful when purchasing bakery goods. Always ask if any nut products were used in the baking and if the product is displayed in the same area as a product with nuts do not purchase it ! Once she begins school all her teachers, nurse and lunch personnel need to know. Many children bring in PPJ for lunch - she cannot sit beside these children. Also read up on these tow nuts - you will probably find they have very close relations to other foods which she will then have to avoid.

Refer to webmd for more information. Good luck and God Bless.

avoid all nuts....period, nuts can be healthy, but they can also be very unhealthy....as for allergies to nuts they can be deadly....

nuts and unhealthiness? SIMPLE, aflatoxins....look it up, the MAIN cause of primary liver cancer.....

No, I haven't. Just see to it that your child does not encounter that to which he is allergic and keep an epi pen handy in case he encounters one or the other despite your best efforts.

Well, yes, I guess I do have one mild allergy - I'm allergic to people who are nuts!

my daughter is allergic to peanuts so we avoid all nuts just in case.you need to find out if they go by any other name so u can avoid them in soaps, creams etc.we can only use certain ones becuz of her soy and corn allergies,so becareful!!!

We found out when my son was 4 (he is 6 now) that he is allergic to tree nuts. He had an allergic reaction that caused us to call 911 after eating one chocolate covered cashew. Our allergy doctor informed us that since he is so allergic to cashews, he should avoid all tree nuts. People that are allergic to one type of tree nut have a higher risk of having an allergic reaction to another type of tree nut, even if they tested negative for it during the test. My best advice to you is to be very alert when it comes to sweets...chocolates, cakes, pies, and even a lot of the breads are made with nuts now. Don't assume it doesn't have nuts in it because you don't physically see the nuts, and NEVER buy anything for your daughter without reading the allergy warning on the lables. Even if it says "made on the same production line as products with tree nuts", you run the risk of a small amount entering the product you are buying...even though it's a small risk, the life of your child isn't worth that risk. Sunbeam bread is the only bread my son is allowed to eat, as Mrs. Bairds is made on a tree nut line. Taking your daughter to school is another issue you will be dealing with soon, if you haven't already. Our son has to have an epi-pen around him at all times incase of a reaction that would cause his throat to close. Please feel free to email me with any other questions because I don't want this to be too long! :-)

you need to checking ingredients of everything you buy and do not buy thing that contain or may contain nut traces, do not buy things that are produced in a nut enviroment, most packaging tells you this information.

No I am not allergic to nuts.
