Anyone ever had an anaphylactic reaction for a nut allergy?

What are the danger point to look out for?

Anaphylaxis may begin with severe itching of the eyes or face, followed by these symptoms, usually within minutes of exposure to the allergen:

* Swelling of the throat, lips and tongue.
* Difficulty breathing, caused by swelling of the throat and constricting of the airways.
* Difficulty swallowing.
* Hives.
* Generalized flushing (redness and warmth) of the skin.
* Abdominal cramps and nausea.
* Increased heart rate.
* Sudden weakness.
* Drop in blood pressure.
* Vomiting or diarrhea.
* Swelling throughout the body.
* Shock.
* Unconsciousness

If you know you have a life threatening allergy to anything you should always carry an Epipen and use it as soon as you know you have come in contact with the allergen. Do not wait. It could be the difference between life and death.

You'll know if it's important. Wheezing almost immediately after contact with the nuts is the most important symptom, and you should have someone administer an Epi-Pen to you immediately.

i haven't but i work with a little boy who is deathly allergic to nuts and beans. when he has a reaction he can't breath,at all, due to his bronchi contracting .we carry an epi pen at all times.immediate rash and swelling around his face are also signs.

The most severe and life鈥搕hreatening symptoms are difficulty breathing and loss of consciousness.

Difficulty breathing is due to swelling and/or spasm in the airways (which can include swelling of the tongue or the airways). In very rare cases, breathing can stop altogether.

Loss of consciousness is due to dangerously low blood pressure, which is called "shock."

In the most serious cases, the heart can stop pumping altogether.

These events can lead to death.

I have had mild anaphlyactic reactions to nut allergies, and have dealt with patients who have had severe reactions. Reactions vary per person, but some of the main things to look out for are feeling flushed/hot, redness, rash, wheezing, swelling, throat itching/burning. If you notice any of these symptoms immediately take liquid benadryl, a lot of times that will clear up the symptoms. Other symptoms are difficulty breathing and starting to feel your throat close up, these are severe symptoms and epinephrine should be given immediately. If you have to inject yourself with the epi-pen, go to the hospital immediately after giving,for monitoring. Anyone who has allergies should carry and know how to use an epi-pen, you should also always have liquid benadryl nearby.

YES! It's awful. With me it starts out with intense itching on my palms and the soles of my feet, then my throat. It's the worst feeling ever. After that's when the hives, swelling begin.
