Is it safe to give people with nut allergy coconut?

is coconut the same as peanuts i want to use coconut milk in cooking

Im allergic to peanuts, almonds and hazelnuts and i can eat coconut, it's not in the same family of foods. Coconut milk will not affect someone with a nut allergy. There will be people who are allergic to just coconuts but the two allergies arnt related.

id have to say no way but i dont know for certain

I would definatly say not to try it. It would be too risky. Otherwise, see what it says on the back of the can. It may say that anyone who is allergic to peanuts or nuts should not eat it.

they should be okay. despite the name, a coconut is actually a seed. many people think its a nut because of the name, but its just coincedance.

Coconuts and peanuts are not related. Being allergic to peanuts does not make you allergic to coconuts. In the case of cooking for a person with allergies, it is best to find out all of their allergies before you fire up the kitchen!
