My 3 year old son has severe nut allergy including coconut.?

does this mean we cannot use sun cream on him that smells of coconut? Will this cause a reaction or will he be ok?? We are goin abroad so he will need sun protection and nearly all of them smell of coconut.

avoid everything that has anything to do with nuts

Check the ingredients label and avoid anything with any sort of nuts in them including almonds etc. Buy your sunscreen at home, I use Nivea products without any problems but please do be careful. Ask your doctor for help.

having no allergies myself i can only guess at a suggestion. definatly avoid anything nut related,,,but what about bug repellants such as off skintastic? sorry if its a lame answer.

Please check the ingredients on the labels before putting it on him. You can never know the reaction of food allergies on the skin. I have food allergies and I cannot use products that contain those ingredients like certain shampoos, lotions, etc.

There are many sunscreens without cocounts so please try those instead. Try Neutrogena, Aveeno, etc. and make sure you read the labels for anything with coconut ingredients/derivatives and avoid if you can (For example: Cocoamidopropyl Betaine, Massoialactone, Sodium stearoyl lactylate, cocoa butter, and obviously anything with the word coconut in it)

If the cream does not actually have coconut, or natural fragrance, he should be okay. I'd actually get a list of everything which can/cannot be taken, eaten, or used from your doctor. It sounds like you are in for a long haul with this allergy.
