Nut allergies? chestnuts?? same thing? help!!?

i went to the allergie dr and was tested for allergies they said i was higly allergic to MIXED NUTS? i had been having reactions??? ive stopped eating anything with nuts and its been better/? peanut oil really tears me up..

they said i would have to have a blood test to determin if i was allergic to CHESTNUTS? anyone know anything about this/? i love chestnuts and thats one thing i"ll hate to give up......are they the same group as peanuts? or are they totally different? thanks

I'm allergic to nuts and peanuts, and I know from experience that chestnuts make me sick. I would stay away from them if they make you feel sick too. I would say that they are not in the same group as peanuts, but keep in mind that peanuts are NOT nuts. (They are actually related to peas!) Chestnuts are nuts, so if some nuts make you sick, these may too.

Yes they are. My youngest daughter has the same problem. It is simply best to avoid all nuts.
