Does "Nut Free" peanut butters taste like peanut butter?

I've seen peanut butter that is nut free. It's made out of soy or peas. I have a tree nut allergy and I used to be able to peanuts but my allergy has become worse over the years so I stay away from peanuts now too. I'm tempted to try the nut free stuff. Does anyone know how close of a taste it is to peanut butter and if it was any good.

I have hear that Natural Sunbutter tastes a lot like real peanut butter, but is made out of sunflower seeds. I have never tried it myself though. I love almond butter, if you can eat almonds I think this is a great alternative!

It is great in cookies.
I do not like the after taste on bread.

The peanut is not a nut but a legume in the same family as peas. It's possible that some peanut butters contain nuts and the legend on the label simply advises that, for people that are allergic to some nuts. To be safe call the mfr's ofc. Oh, a little factoid: peanuts grow underground and are harvested somewhat like potatos.
