Is it true that there is a problem in nursing homes with STDs?

My friend told me that stds spread very fast in nursing homes.

This is a very interesting question.

The answer is yes and no.

In some types of care settings where there is a younger population you may see a fast spread of some types of STD's.
However in a long term care facility you don't see residents "hooking up" all the time in the hall.
So the question maybe not so much a matter of the spread, once in, but rather the fact that some of the aging population that is coming into nursing homes may be infected more often then their previous generations.

You would hope that your grandmother isn't getting the clap from the guy in 312 but the fact is that many who come into the nursing homes have not be diagnosed with an STD, hence the ability to spread it is there.

I think that Yes with the enhancement drugs that are now available there will be an increase of STDs among the aged generation, especially in Assisted living.

Absolutely. Since Grandma can't get knocked up, the old folks are much less likely to use any form of protection.

Plus they're old and bored and stuck in a nursing home with lots of other old and bored people. Some people do macrame, others do the guy in the next room with the hip replacement.
