Yes, there are nursing care facilites for the young if they meet the criteria. This is determined by your Doctor and the Case Manager of the facility you are applying to. There is also home nursing care from visiting nurses. Your doctor should be able to tell you what type of facility and care would meet your needs.

What do you mean by nursing home? There are places younger people can go and be looked after when they are sick, so I guess my answer is yes.

I think you can be REAL glad that,as far as I know, there aren't any nursing homes for the young. We're not supposed to need such places,remember.

There is no "age appropriate" nursing home. They are long term, skilled nursing facilities... kind of like a long term hospital stay. I know of several young people (19 & 23 yrs old) that are in nursing homes. They were involved in seperate MVA's and are brain dead. The families can't stand the thought of removing their boys from life support. They will not recover, and they will be in a facility until they die.

It isn't unheard of to have a young person in a long term facility for stroke, MVA, Drug induced brain damage, etc.

Yes, we've cared for many young residents.

I can tell you that I worked in a Pediatric Nursing home for over 6 years in Groton, MA. Most residents are there long term, but there have been a few who only stay a short time. Ages range from infant to adult. The adult residents have been there since they were young. The people who work there are extremely compassionate towards their patients.

If the young person is incapacitated and needs round the clock care, most nursing homes will take them.

You mean like late teen and up. I believe on is called Rebeca's dream or some thing like that. In CCD we would collect money for them to get pizza once a week. Be cause they where sick.
