Similarities between nursing homes and home health care?

Can anyone help me find this information? The differences are easy and I have a very long list of those, but I really need some similarities too. Thank you in advance. :)

i have experience of both with 3 of my grandparents.
you get help with washing bathing changng of pads if you are incontinent.you get your room cleaned and maintained where at home you have to do it yourself if you are mobile or get family to do it or pay.at home you keep your privacy and can turn telly on without someone else moaning they either want it off or dont want that programme on.they allow smoking in certain areas and it drifts and my nan couldnt stand that ..she didnt have that at home.you have someone staying with you 24/7 in a care home at home its nice but usually impossible as family have their lives to get on with.there is usually bingo nights or music time or remenissing afternoons in care homes they have chiropodist come in where you would have to go to one at home.the optician can see you in care home or at home.dentist you have to go to if you need dentures fitted if you are in both.every day drags on the same as the last in both.you see youre family if you are lucky in both.meals on wheels make your food care home staff make it so either way you dont cook but if you are at home there are dishes to do.when it comes to death.....doctor will visit you at both and also a priest or vicar will see you at both either for prayers or last rites.the family can feel less comfortable visiting you in a home than at your own home you feel everyone is listening and that you are on show.christmas day is same as home roast dinner decorations but in a home they get kids in to do carols or a bit of old folks like kareoke(roll out the barrel,we'll meet again and such songs...quite sad if they are the partner of your other grandparent that has died already!!hard to think of mre cos its got me thinking about my grandparents.social services will visit both to check you are happy and have all the aids you need for mobility.you can do your room in your own way bring in pictures ornaments a tv etc make it like home.so similar to home.chemist deliver tablets to both.hospital visits send ambulance to both and a member of your family can accompany you like if you were at home.you get to sit in with doctor more on both cos your relative is often confused.on funeral day you can have all your freinds and family go from your home or old folks home cos after all this is your home cos you gave the other one up,all activity at the old folks home stops in respect and the staff usually get someone to represent them too.they have a lounge set out so you can all gather like you would if you lived at home.hope this helps i am worn out lol thanks for a trip down memory lane.

thanks for the vote pity the person asking the question couldn't put any effort in choosing the best answer though! Report It

Similiarities would be you get help with bathing, dressing and medications. You can have PT come in for therapy several times a week. A nurse manages your case. You can get someone to prepare meals for you. This should be a good start.
