Nursing homes. Will the home take people usually if they can't pay the full price?

I doubt it, people are only in business for one thing: money.

I am pretty sure that the gov't ones would.

Nursing homes in my area usually take people for their retirement checks provided they don't have any savings or own property.

If you talk to the social worker or the administrator of a nursing home, they can explain how their company does payments. some nursing homes a what we call private pay. that means that every charge for every service at that facility comes out of the residents pocket. you also have some nursing homes that take title 19 pts. this is usually a state supported payment. then you have pts on medicare medicare will pay a portion of the bill. if the person whom you are looking to place had previous insurance sheck with the insurance company for a "long term health care plan" in that situation the insurance company pays some of the $ required also. just check around and see what the people say. good luck to you and the person you are trying to place. :)

yeah it depends whether its govt or private too

Most are accepting social security checks for payments, however they do not do hardship cases.

No, they have a definite price. The best way for elderly to get the help they need is give away everything prior to being in need (usually 2 years prior). If they have nothing, the government will pay for everything, nursing home, medications, equipment...everything! But they are only allowed a certain amount of money. The house or car they own will be sold after death and the family will have to pay back the state for what was spent. If there's anything left, the family can have it.

Among other things, I've run a senior center (senior meal program, meals on wheels, medical transit, etc.) for a little over ten year so I've had some exposure to the long term care industry. I strongly suggest that you hook up with the Area Agency on Aging in your community. Nursing homes serving my region are all corporations with a profit motive. If the resident can't afford the service and is over income or resource for medicaid he or she is probably not going to be served.

That being said there may be an entire continuum of services available. For instance the Older American's Act may be able to help with some support services that will allow the elder to age in place. Less expensive (and often higher quality) services such as Adult Foster Homes or private Residential Care Facilities may be a better fit.

Always look before you leap and never go it alone. Good luck!

if you take out all of the money from under their name cuz if they hve any money under their ame they will make u pay the whole price adn take them to a govit one
