NURSING HOMES ARE THE DISGRACE OF AMERICA. WE THROW ALL OUR OLDER PEOPLE IN THERE, SUCK UP ALL THEIR MONEY AND THEN GO TO MEDICARE OR MEDICAID AND WHY? BECAUSE ADULT CHILDREN DO NOT WANT TO BE BOTHERED WITH THEIR PARENTS. THERE IS A SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL FOR PEOPLE WHO DUMP THEIR PARENTS IN NURSING HOMES.

All the money going to nursing homes, like 4000 dollars per patient a month.
All that money, old folks should live like kings and queens.
Some big CEO is rackin all the dough and cant pay the helpers decent wages.

I used to work in a nursing home and so did my daughters, one still does, and I can tell you that they have changed a lot. My late mother was in one 4 months ago, they treated her horribly. In 4 weeks she hadn't had a shower, they didn't even have a tray table for her to eat. I had to hold her bowls and plates up to her mouth so she could feed herself. They never answered the call button. I stayed the night one night and they sat there in the living room area, reading the newspaper or just chatting, while lights were being lit. They didn't even bother to answer them. One woman had fallen, and they left her there for over half an hour or so. I left my purse in my mothers room while I had her outside so she could have a cigarette, and someone stole the only money I had in my purse. It was only $4 and some change, but still, it was all I had. The nurses and aides were standing out in the hallways chatting about their lives and problems and neglecting the patients. Even in the dining room, they served them their food, but didn't even bother to help those that couldn't feed themselves. I sat and fed the patient who sat next to me while I helped my mother too. The last day my mother was there, (we moved her to another place) an aide was teasing this other woman by pretending to poke her in the face with a fork. Sooo don't tell me about being understaffed. It is pure and simple neglect and abuse.
We had her in there because she was dying of cancer. One of us, her children, was with her 24-7. We thought they would help us with her care. BOY WERE WE WRONG! We had her moved to a hospital instead. They were wonderful there in the cancer wing.

They are warehouses for old folks but there are some high end places for the rich that are nice.
