Does anyone work at or know much about some nursing homes and hospitals?

called kindred all around the U.S. if so can you tell me how good you think they are and more about them please what ever information you know i would love to hear back..thanks

Yes Kindred is the name of the facality and they have alot of them in different places...some are nursing homes and some are hospitals..

Never heard of the place. Nursing homes make the people get up at 5 am, so the next shift doesn't have to do it. If the person falls, restraints are now illegal and they will fall all day and look like someone beat the crap out of them. The falls on those hard floors they'll be lucky to regain conscious. They can only have a shower 3x a week. Some morning shift, some night shift. They have a right to refuse, so they may end up really smelly. I would hook up with a floor nurse there and get on a first name basis. Start slowly and don't rush her bcuz she is really busy and has to work all day without any breaks.Nothe DON, they live in a fantacy world and know only what brown noses tell them to get pplthat make them workfir,floor nurse will be the one always calling you with every nit picking thing that happens, med changes, another resident abusing her/him, any incident of unwitnessed origin...blah, blah, blah. Don't let minor incidents unnerve you, they happen all the time. If something major happens you will be notified of a transfer to a hospital. Your decision if you can go or not. Keep an open dialog with all floor nurses on duty, as most are agency filling in for the day, if you notice a change of condition. Or just have a concern you want to addressed. Some are nursing responsibility, others are social services...etc. Don't worry. The more you become familiar with the facility, the more relaxed you will be. Every nursing home is understaffed, but what can you do? The service will be slow but it will get done.

If you are thinking about putting a loved one in a nursing home be sure to do your homework. Check out the nursing home very carefully. Go by unannounced and see how they treat the people in their care and during meal time and see how they feed them. See if they tie their guest down or as they might call it restraint them. See if they get their meds like they should. Try to go in the morning to see if they get a bath. ( I know all of this,because I use to work as an orderly in a nursing home for the elderly).
