How many elderly person in the uk are in the nursing homes and residential homes?

i need it for my research work. if anybody can give me a helful website that has statistical figure regarding elderly in uk. thanks very much.

The old statistic for the whole of the UK I have been able to find is:
In 2001 there were 27,500 care homes in England offering about 528,000 places.

Each county publishes its own statistics regarding care home (nursing homes and residential homes) if you need more specific figures.
