What is the responsability of doctors taking care of patients in nursing homes?

doctor not taking regular blood test or labs for a diabetic patient.

It is more the nurses responsibility to request these things from the doctor. The nurses are in charge of the residents day to day care, so if the doctors aren't made aware then what can they do. If the nurses have requested these things from the doctor, and he's not doing it ask him why. He may have medical reasons. If his explanation isn't satisfactory, talk to another doctor.

they r there 2 check if da patient is alive or not

Is it a skilled nursing home, or an assisted living facility?

they re responsible for the medical care the patient receives.

view there behaviors, prescribe meds for their needs in order to keep them healthy or comfortable and on occasions they pop in & out to see what the resident look like and how they feel so they know (residents) that a Dr. do exist.

It depends on what doctor you are talking about. The patients doctor or the nursing home doctor? ^The patient should have both!
The Nursing home doctors responsabilitys include Pt. not getting/caring for bedsores.etc... The Pts doctor should be ordering test for glucose, and checking their general health (this should be done in the doctors office, away from the home)
AND the family members responsabilitys include making sure each and everyone of them including the nurses are doing their job!

They are *completely* responsible for the care and well being of the patient..

IF NOT, You need to move this patient to a place that does care for them..

You also need to report them to the proper authorities.. If that doesn`t change it, you need to report it to the television stations. You need to tell everyone who will listen. Talk to the Mayor, Talk to the Newspapers.

People in there, are someone`s Mom or Dad or brother or sister. They are NOT just old people. the deserve to be taken care of and to be happy.. I am ashamed to say that in our great country we sadly are very negligent with our elderly.. It is so important to take care of our elderly. They have so much knowledge and wisdom you would be amazed..

God bless & hugs from Texas..{:-)

Most nursing homes have a doctor who "rounds" or oversees the care of patients, although probably not daily, and perhaps only infrequently in person. These doctors rely on the staff nurses, who are on-site and see the patients every day, to bring any issues to their attention. Nurses are also responsible for monitoring blood glucose levels.
However, there are many different types of facilites which people think of as "nursing homes," but in fact offer varying levels of care. Some of these are assisted living facilities, where the residents do most of their own care, but have access to help if they need it. The responsiblity of the doctor overseeing the residents will depend in part on the type of facility, and therefore the type of care, the facility is contracted to provide.
As well, doctors who are not on-site can only act based upon the quality of the information they are given. When researching problems, that is a good place to start. Most places must keep a chart on their residents; if you can review it, it may answer some questions for you.

You answered your own question, the doctors should be doing there job.

Same resposibilities they have in a hospital setting
