What do u think bout the CNA been pay low after taking care of our elders in nursing homes,do the deserve $15

I think the work that CNA's do is difficult and stressful and can even cause injury. Unfortunately, there are just certain categories of workers who our country doesn't value as much, so they don't get paid what they should.

Child care workers are in the same situation. I was a social worker with a Master's Degree and I made $15 an hour. One of my friends heard how little I was making and said, "You could make more delivering pizzas!" - which was probably true, but I did it for the love of the work (until the stress nearly killed me).

God bless everyone who cares for others in this world. Oh, by the way, I DID NOT mean that you shouldn't try to get as much money per hour as you can - you absolutely should ask for a raise and talk to your co-workers and the supervisors at your facility. Best of luck to you...

not good

Are you asking if a CNA deserves $15 an hour for taking care of elders in a nursing home? Seems a little low, but I don't really know what nursing homes pay.

I'm a CNA, I wish I made $15 an hour. My base rate is $10.01 and I get an additional $2 an hour for working the night shift. But you are right, we are way underpaid for what we do.

I used to think they should myself when I was a CNA. Now I'm a nursing student, and if they were going to start paying CNAs $15/hour then they better pay nurses $30. Not that CNAs aren't hard working people, but man...this nursing school thing has me in debt like crazy, and CNAs have to work under us...meaning we're responcible for thier work.

Yes, how much less do they make? It must be a labor of love. It's physically demanding work. It's hard to deal with patients with dementia. Families place their loved ones in nursing homes because they can't physically do the lifting. (one of many reasons) It's also very difficult to witness a parent's decline.

Alzheimer's patients can become very mean spirited when the disease progresses. I would be happy to pay a CNA who was experienced and well qualified $15. an hour for my parents.

I hope you get a raise...maybe do home health care through a registry. You can get extra perks from the family if you are helping them survive the experience.
