Nursing home through Kaiser? |
My mother has been sick and in the hospital over a month now, she has had a heart attack, also has dieabetes and numerous other problems. Any way long story short is she was on a breathing machine for a couple of weeks, she got off of it and is now not herself in the least, at first I thought it was the drugs and it would take time, but she has no memory except she does know us, but sleeps most of the time and hardly eats anything. The doctor at Kaiser has said she needs to go to a nursing home I guess affliated with Kaiser for rehab, to learn how to walk and swallow better. He did say she had deminsia and does'nt know if she'll get any better. My question is, I hate the idea of a nursing home, but they almost have forced this on us, I have a feeling they just want her out. Does anybody have any experience with this? I need to know if it's safe and how long she might be there, Kaiser sucks! Except the nurses in ICU. Anyway help would be apprcieated. nursing homes are not as bad as you think they are most people actually go for the therapy (they get it everyday- speech- will help her with her swallowing, physical- help her get back on her feet) after they get better most can go home. nursing homes are really good because of the thearapy so think about it it could benefit for her just help her alot |
