What is the reason for a nuclear bone scan? same reason for any nuclear medicine - too look for irregularities. Cancer tissue, density, lack of marrow - anything - to find out if something is wrong Detect metastases. that is spread of tumor to bone. They use it for many diagnostic purposes. I had one for RSD. In my particular case they search for "uptake" which refers to blood flow to determine RSD. However, with RSD the scan is very questionable and basically just a guessing game used for the disease. People with the full blown disease have had negative test results while others have had positive results. It's not reliable for that disease! |

I would go back and try to straiten out the diagnosis. First of all the ischium is NOT part of the vertebral column it is part of the pelvic girdle which includes the ilium, ischeum, and pubis and...
