Occasional Flank pain?

About once a year I have severe flank pains that starts slow then progress with nausea, vomitting and dizzyness. It sends me to emregency room each time because of the dehydration that comes with vomitting. I had all sorts of tests to rule out kidney infections...They cannot find out what is wrong and then after morphine and antibiotics, they send me home. I had nuclear ultrasounds, cat scans, etc... unknown illness. Today, I am afraid I am going to end up in the hospital again. I feel this pain and it's been about a year. What can it be?

Is the pain sharp? Did they check for possible ureterolithiasis? You might have stones in your ureters. The pain comes and goes, and usually is felt in the flank area.
