Mono........................?

What scan would be ideal to exam the spleen and liver. A ct scan, spleen and liver scan(nuclear), or sonogram?

Usually its a combination of ERCP and Ultz on the liver while Ultz on the spleen.

But when there is a tumor, MRI or CT-Scan is the best choice.

yes

let your doctor who has the specialized training make this decision.

First:a simple blood test to determine your liver enzyme levels will do.

a ct scan would be able to detect inflamation

dude if you have mono you must be a ladys man

nuclear

The ct scan is far more superior than and ultrasound studies of the liver and spleen. However, ct scans of these two organs requires IV contrast which has risks and complication associated with it.

IV contrast can cause a severe allergic reaction to people who are allergic to seafood. It is not recommended for people who have kidney disease. Otherwise, IV contrast is generally very safe.

Ct scans also gives patients a great amount of radiation. Therefore, pregnant women should not go under this study. Also, there is a minuscule chance of developing some form of cancer from the radiation. This should be kept in mind when scanning children.
