What do I have to do after my Thyroid Scan?

I have been told a number of things...
a. I have to stay away from everybody for 2 days
b. I can go to work no problem be around people, just not babies.
c. I can't share utensils with people.

What is the right answer? I am going to ask the lab people at the daignostic place, but I am curious right now if anyone has been throuhg this and knows the answer. Can I go to work? Be around kids? Pregnant people? This is nuclear medicine. Ihave googled it....just looking for real experiences.

For just a thyroid scan (not ablation) you probably won't have any precautions. I just had one last week (my 1 year follow-up) and I didn't have any special instructions to follow. They told me it was similar to the amount of radiation you'd get from an x-ray (which isn't much).

When I had radioactive iodine for ablation (to kill off remaining thyroid cells after surgery) there were very strict precautions. I couldn't go to work for several days, had to stay away from my baby for 5 days, etc.

when i had mine done i went to work the very next day but that is because i had to go over 100 miles to a specialist. they didnt tell me to stay away from anyone. i also have to take pills for my thyroids.
