Is there something wrong with me or is this normal?

Okay first of all I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 8 years old; I have never gotten any treatment. My mom also took me to the doctor for OCD or tourettes syndrome. She tends to think there is a lot wrong with me. But I do think that there is something not quite right, but I'm not sure what. I am 13 female and I have done a lot of research on me mental disorders, but I can't really find any thing that describes me. It is very well possible that there is nothing wrong with me and I'm just a bit of a hypercandreat (sp?). Here are some "symptoms:"

Physical:

Increased heartbeat (or it feels like it, I also have and irregular heartbeat, witch might contribute to this.)

Sweaty palms

Weird breathing (short of breath, deep, find it hard to get a breath.)

Mental "symptoms:"

Hyper

Unorganized thoughts/feelings

Impulsive

Feel the need to do certain things (ex. run my hand down my nose, Rub me wrist together, and yes I am aware that I'm doing this, and can control it

But it feels like if I don鈥檛 do it then something bad with happen.)

Visual/Hearing hallucinations (only happen in dark or shadowy places)

Feeling as if someone is watching me sudden feelings of terror, like something bad is going to happen.

I think this one is normal, but Just in case鈥? kind of having two personalities they even argue with each other. They don鈥檛 tell each other to do bad things it is just that I will kind of be telling to my self and then I will say shut-up then I will say no and so on.

Mood swings. (I will be sad at somebody on moment, and the next I will love them)

Feeling that paranormal things are happening, and that I am involved in them, like a certain color is special and it means something more then what people thing or that this person is a special 鈥渃hosen one.鈥?/div>

It sure sounds like ADHD to me!

Please get tested for bi-polar disorder, many treatments are available.

Even if nobody wants to put you on meds, they could at least take you for an evaluation and a proper diagnosis. I'm sorry honey, that their dysfunction has to cost you so much. I wish I could tell you that a school counselor or nurse could help you get the diagnosis and services you need, but unfortunately it's about money, not about students. Ask them anyway, ok?

Is there a way you can get your parents to take you to a clinic or doctor to find out what it really is and at least get you the right training to be able to live a calm life? Just because they like things in a turmoil doesn't mean you have to be doomed to live that way too!

I've heard other people talk about mental illness experiences, and this sounds kinda like paranoid schizophrenia. This disorder causes you to feel like there are people watching you, out to get you, following you, etc. Often this is associated with hallucinations, like seeing ghosts, and can lead to superstitions (your thing with colors), distractability, and profound anxiety. I knew a woman who thought that if a person wore yellow, that they were signaling to her that the CIA was following her that day. Another person thought that a certain song on the radio was written especially about HIM, and the DJ at the radio station knew it and was trying to bother him. I'm no dr, just a chick with issues of my own, and I've heard a lot of stuff from other people with different problems...

It does sound to me like OCD, and that the physical symptoms (heart rate, breathing) are symptoms of anxiety. I would seek help, because eventhough it may not impact your life now, it can get worse.

Some kind of schizophrenic behavior is also noted there. But you are to young to be diagnosed with this disease. Get help with your teachers if your parents doesn't help you. ADHD can be responsible for some of your sipmtoms but not all. It also can be soomething more serious that is casing this behavior. Go the a Doctor so he can rule out tumors or another tipe of barin damage. Try to go to a library or book store and get a book of psiquiatric disorders. You should get ahold of a DSM-IV You seem mature enough to go thru it.

THE SOONER THE BETTER

It sounds like anxiety to me. Which could very well stem from the poor home situation you are in. I suffer from anxiety and mile OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). Counseling, or talking to a trusted medical professional or adult would help at least some. There is nothing "wrong" with you. I know that yoga or some other type of calming, deep-breathing exercises should help. Good Luck!

you should talk to your family doctor about this.and not depend on non professionalls for a diagnosis, sounds like you do need to be assessed.and by the way...nothing wrong with admitting and getting some assistance.re your symptoms.talk to you mom about seeing some one re mental health issues. If in fact you do need meds just know that they can be very helpful....good for you in seeking help ....good luck

you sound like a very smart 13 y o . my opinion is nothing b ut an opinion but i think you have anxiety issues. some of the things you listed seem to go alot farther than that.. why were'nt you prescribed anything for adhd and tourettes?
the docs can do tests, and you can get to see a therapist. maybe you have a condition of sorts or maybe it is a mix of dysfunctional home, puberty, anxiety and life as a whole.. don't listen to the mean answers either hun, You're Alright.

Get your mom to make you another appt, and tell the doctor everything that's going on.. Good Luck To You :)

To me, it sounds like you have ADHD (like u said u did), OCD, and possible Bi-Polar disorder? It may just be depression, (not that it makes it any less important).. I think you should definately go to the doc, with a printed copy of your question since it gives so much detail. They'll have a far better idea than any of us do! Good luck!

I would suggest staying away for caffeine to control the heart /breathing issues but I think you should also read about Asperger's Syndrone. You sound like my son.

Your arguments in the head is a basic form of virtual reality most of us have to some degree...
a thought orgy we mistakenly allow to run amok.

I suspect most of your issues relate directly with thought let loose and out of control.
In this you're normal. In this you're also certifiably insane.
But so are others, so hey, there's not enough padded rooms, you can walk the streets!

If you want a little sanity I recommend you find a form of meditation and enjoy doing it daily.
Nothing's worse than meditation which is a chore. Give it a chance... but don't continue if it doesn't feel right. You may need to simply change technique.
DO THIS EVEN AND ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE ADHD.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...

As you can see by reading all of the answers before me, you have several diagnosis and people that care about you. Because you've written what you have it shows you have great concern about what's going on with you. A little bit of each persons writing I would take into consideration, all of that except the diagnosis part which you really need to get from a professional. I'm sorry your family is not supporting you through this. At the age of 13 you should have a school counselor you can talk to to help you get evaluated by a professional. I have a very close friend who was brought up in a very disfunctional family - she thought she had an illness and later learned that the more she read, the more she felt like it applied to her. Her conclusion is she was a hyprocondreac as many doctors told her - she just wanted attention from her family and to have them build a bond. Since this was never acccomplished, she put herself through medical school is an advise nurse, married a handsome man involved in the medical equipment industry, they own a very beautiful home and are expecting their second child.
My friends parents and the rest of the family are still disfunctional and probably looking to her for financial support.
There are two important things I want to share with you and it's the way you were brought up doesn't have to be that way when your on your own and 2nd, please do talk with a school counselor or your pastor for proper guidance in getting the professional evaluation you need. Good luck to you honey. You sound like a very smart young lady at the age of 13. I know you will be successfull in life.
