I need help.. with the REAL.. me.. so to speak..?


My friend tells me... that.. my mask is taking over me... I don't let poeple no when Im sad mad or depressed.. I used to... well she thinks I still do but I DONT have an easting disorder.... well anyways.. she says that.. my mask is taking over.. and I dont care as much anymore and Im beginning to lie better and more again... I've started to have nose bleeds.... my head hurts... I've been spaceing a lot latly.. and my growing pains hurt like heck.. the girl I used to be is inside me.. .but my mask covers her almost 24/7 now..... my friend... wants the old the..'real' me back.. am I still alive? or did I just turn into this big mask.... and... how... could I open up to her better?... I really don't share my problems all to much.

Don't let it bother you. Shakespeare said : All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players.
It's when the mask slips and shows the horrible real you that you need to worry.

I think it would be a good idea if you went to see a counselor. I would suggest that your parents go with you. A counselor is basically a professional listener. After he/she has listened to you for a while then you can count on the advice you get to help you get back on the right track.

If you are recovering from an eating disorder you may want to see a nutritionist. Our bodies are very complex chemical machines and if we are not balanced (homones, etc.) it can cause us to behave differently than we want.

Get out in the sun without sunscreen for at least 10 minutes a day. The rays of the sun on our skin help us get rid of melancholy. Don't worry it Won't cause skin cancer.
I've been doing it for many months now and I have a beautiful glow to my skin and I am in good spirits most of the time.

It sounds a lot like you need to talk to a skilled counselor. Talk to anyone you know and find out who is good, and be prepared to try with several counselors to find someone who can really help.

We think of ourselves as a single person, but to some extent every person is a committee. Different parts of our personalities come to the fore in different circumstances. But the symptoms you describe sound similar to things I have heard of in other people's experience, usually related to extreme stress.

I know how difficult it can be to find the reality in yourself when you have had to present a "public face" 24/7 and seize private moments to be yourself, and that is why I urge you to seek the help of a good counselor.

Also, if you can find someone skilled in Parent/Adult/Child counseling (sometimes called PAC, or transactional analysis) it may help. I recommend the book "I'm OK, You're OK", see if your library can get it for you.
