Is this ok?

First of all I've tried a lot of antidepressant meds(with obsessive disorder and anxiety) and they've all had adverse side effects on me and didn't really work.

Well I tried Celexa recently and after one day I got really bad itchy and runny nose and sneezing uncontrollably with itchy watery eyes. I don't have seasonal allergies or anything like that. So I stopped taking it. I can't deal with that.

Is it ok to quit? It was over the weekend.

Hi! I would call your doc just to be sure it isn't the Celexa. I listed the respiratory system side effects that are reported for Celexa below- the first percentage shows the # of people who took celexa and had issues (for example 5% of people taking it reported upper respiratory symptoms) and the # of people who took a placebo (a pill made out of fillers, not the drug itself) and had the same symptoms (4% of people reported upper respiratory symptoms and they weren't even taking celexa). I doubt that's what made you sneeze and have watery eyes, but you never know. The one thing you do have to watch out for is taking meds and then just stopping them. That's not good because it messes up your brain chemistry.
Respiratory System Disorders
Upper Respiratory Tract Infection: celexa 5% placebo4%
Rhinitis: celexa 5% placebo 3%
Sinusitis: celexa3% placebo < 1%

I take Celexa and first of all it takes 4 weeks to get into your system. So I don't think the itchy nose was a side effect from the meds. I would talk to your doctor ASAP. Good luck

Sounds like you are allergic to it, too. IMO if you only took it for one day, then it will not be harmful to stop it right away. Mostly it is when you are on meds for a while they want to taper it down before you stop it altogether.

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time finding a med that helps - but there are a lot to choose from, try to get your doc to help find others to try. Sometimes 'off label' meds can help, like clonidine (high blood pressure med) that my kid took for ADHD. Good luck.

If you stopped taking it, be sure to call your doctor.
He/she need to know so you can both decide on something else to try. Don't wait for your next appointment to tell him/her.
I hope you will find something that will help you.
Best Wishes

It's probably a good idea that you did!

I've had bad adverse reactions after 1 or 2 days on a med and quit it. I just called my doctor as soon as possible to tell him what I had done and why.
You should let your doctor know. Drug allergies should always be added to your chart. Quitting after 1 day on a med is not going to hurt you.
