Non-small cell lung cancer? |
My granddad recently had a lobectomy that removed his upper right lobe. He had squamous cell carcinoma... a type of non-small cell lung cancer. At first from the looks and pretests they thought it was stage 1, but after 2 tests done on it after they said it was stage 3A but it had NOT spread to any lymphnodes... And I thought that stage 3 had spread to lymphnodesm, but they assure us that it hasn't spread and all lymphnodes were negative.. They stil want him to undergo short doses of chemo and radiation... Can anyone who has had a relative with this condition fill me in and explain it? Thanks! If you have lung cancer staged 3A there is lymph involvement...it can mean lymph involvement is further away from the primary tumor on the same side as the tumor or that it lymph involvement is closer to the primary tumor but has invaded the chest wall or lining of the lung. If the lymphnodes were neg then it could be a 2b...which is no lymph involvement but is has spread to the chest wall. |
