Whats the best treatment for lung cancer..? |
my mother as non small cell lung cancer.she as a 8cm tumor in her right lung.she all so as emphasemia so they dont want to take biopsys of her lynth nodes.they just recomend chemo.as any body been through this and if so is this the right course of action and how serious is it..any info would help me deerley..thank you cancer is a disease of cells occurs when cells lose its abilties to reproduce in a orderly manner. What you need to do is to strongly and dramatically interrupt and reverse the cancer-causing conditions in your body so that it becomes healthier, and stops breeding cancer. Here r a few things that will be helpful to u or whoever u know has cancer.....1) Low Levels Of Cellular Oxygen Breed Cancer... my great uncle did chemo and radiation for his lung cancer that he got last year, and he's like 80 something and seems to be doing really well boycott Philip Morris ! what a sad joke...they tell kids how not to use their products ! I lost an employee last year to lung cancer. It wasn't actually the lung cancer that got her it was some of the cells that traveled through her lymphatic and circulatory system and set up shop in her brain. IMHO, the time to take aggressive treatment measures is before metastasis. Afterwards, treatement should be about preserving quality of life. Several treatment modalities are used. Radiation and chemo to help shrink and prohibit growth of the tumor, surgery may be recommended later. You said your Mom has COPD already, this may be the reason the why they would wait on surgery. I wish you and your Mom,best wishes, trust and have faith in her Doctors. SW RNP get in touch with the cancer treatment center of america, they will give you the infro your looking for, plus there is a hospital in N.Y. that world known for cancer treatment it's called the Slogan Kettering hospital, located on east 68 st in new york. I will keep our family in prayer.God bless and good luck, stay strong for your mother;she's going to need your support. My husband went thru radiation, chemo, gamma knife procedure and took a drug called tarceva. By the time his cancer was diagnosed it was everywhere. He was diagnosed March 20th and sadly he passed June 6th. But DO ask about the tarceva. There have been many people have success with it. Good luck. My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 non small cell lung cancer 3 years ago. It was found because he had surgery for a brain tumor which had to be treated with radiation. Then they had to find where it came from. It was in his lung. He had more radiation and chemo for this one. They didn't operate because they wanted to see if they can keep it the same. Operating is a major procedure. He was given 6 months to live if he was lucky and it has been 3 years. The cancer returned in his brain and he had gamma knife surgery last week for the brain tumor. They are hoping to keep the tumor from growing. Also hoping it will shrink. We were told as long as we stay on top of the tumors as they show up he will do alright. He's had 3 surgeries so far. There are new chemo drugs and they also give a drug to prevent nausea. Radiation is used for the lung also. If she has that ask them for lotion. They have a special lotion to put on the skin because radiation does give a sunburn of sorts. Just put it on her kind of thick and let it soak in. Surgery if the person can do it. But normally chemo and radiation, but i would encourage the person to get a PET/CT scan to look for metastatic disease. In 1990, I had Hodgkin's Lymphoma, stage 3-B, but I've survived. My doctors were great people, but they really couldn't tell me squat about cancer. Now, I'd go the alternative medicine route. Contact me if you want to know why. Best of luck Emu oil gel caps 3 times a day. Emu oil kills cancer cells and is safe to take. one should always consult their doctor before trying anything new. I know exactly what you are going through, My father also has emphasemia and was diagnosed with lung cancer in July 2006. He had 5 weeks of low dose chemo & radiation and was doing quite well. The last 2 doses of chemo were very strong & he had his final one about a month ago. Since then then he has gone downhill fast, He has had a lot of things go wrong and has been in and out of hospital since then. At the moment he has had absolutely no energy and has extreme fatigue. We ae hoping that he will eventually a bit of energy back and just be able to enjoy whats left of his life. In hindsight he may have been better of not having chemo and having a better quality of life. He is also getting very depressed about everything and wishes he never had chemo. But everyone is different and your mother might do quite well with chemo, My thoughts are with you & your mother. There will be a lot of tough times ahead but you just have to try and take it one day at a time. |
