Are there any non-prescription drugs or anything else, that can replace gabapentin for neuropathic pain? |
I am sometimes out of town when my gabapentin prescription runs out and i just have to tough it out until i can get back to town and reorder it, and even then it takes anywhere from 5-10 days to get it in the mail since i get it from some distance away, so i would like to find something that can at least temporarily replace it. You can ask the Pharmacists at Walgreens or CVS. Vitamin B5 is very soothing to the nerve endings. Go to a high end vitamin store and get a vitamin B complex (buy the complex because the B vitamins are absorbed better with other B vitamins). You might also consider bee royal jelly. It is the highest source of naturally occurring B5 and also will recharge your adrenals to stabilize blood sugar levels. There are two companies that offer the purest and freshest available, they are beealive.com and beeroyalproducts.com. Gabapentin is a very expensive drug and I think you would only be prescribed it if it were neccessary - so skipping it is not a good idea. There are no vitamins that will mimic what Gabapentin does. Gabapentin is also a drug that you should NOT suddenly stop taking. Try and not run out, write yourself a note or something. Do you take anything in combination with it? I take Inositol it's a dietary supplement, each pill is 650mg, you can take up to 10 pills a day, I usually take 3 pills - 3X's a day with meals. I use the Solgar brand and get it in the health food store. But do check with your doctor first. i just ran out and i try some form of Advil seems to be better then nothing |
