Alternative therapies for non-hodgkin's lyphoma?

My father was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma and went through the standard chemo and now receives a shot of antibodies on a regular basis. But I was just wondering if anyone knows of any natural or alternative therapies to prevent it coming back (ex. herbal remedies, exercises?). Appreciate any responses, thanks everyone.

ayurveda has herbal cure for non-hodgkin's lymphoma. ayurveda the indian system of herbal treatment is thousands of years old and also recognised by the american cancer society for it's role in the treatment of cancer as an alternative therapy to modern medicines.

Look up on the web herbs on cleansing blood, spleen and liver and H202 therapy is very good. improve diet, exercise. burdock and dandelion root, oregeno, grape seed extract helpful, grape or beet juice. be careful not to cleanse too quick or he'll get sick. good luck. introduce juicing fresh fruits and veggies

Hello there, I currently am battling NHL myself. Although mine is an aggressive kind, I have been reading up on all Lymphoma's. Right now there are not any alternative methods that have been proven to help long-term for Follicular Lymphoma. It sucks, but the best bet is still Chemo. Also Rituxan maintenance has been helping to keep the cancer in control for longer periods of time. Good luck to your father!

This is not a direct answer to your question, I just want to sound a note of caution. I am a doctor, and I feel strongly that especially for serious diseases, as cancers like that can be, if you find alternative therapies are helpful, then by all means try them out, but let your doctor know what you're doing and do not use them instead of traditional medicine, otherwise you could end up doing more harm than good.

I don't know about alternative therapies, but I know the standard therapies are quite effective. Check this website for good info and links:

Rituxan maintenance is often recommended to aid to onset of remission and prevent recurrance. Rituxan is good stuff, with little side effects.
Best wishes to you and your Dad.

I agree with what the doctor posted. Do not take any herbs, vitamins etc without your docyors permission. Some vitamins (Vit e) can actually work against chemo agents by protecting the cell membrane. I also have follicular lymphoma and avoid anything not ordered by my MD. Follicular lymphoma is NOT cureable at this point (getiing close though with mini alleogenic transplants) but it is one of the most controlable and surviveable cancers. Just do what your doctors say and try a clinical trial at a major center (like sloan kettering) I am starting a Velcade (Bortezimib) Trial monday. Good luck. Like my doctor said. He'll most likely die WITH lymphoma, not from it.
