Nicotine patches (wearing all the time)?

Ive smoked for ten years (sense i was 14) and im finially ready to quit, My girlfriend has convinced me to at least try, because ive never tryed to quit before. I smoke about a full pack a day, sometimes more depending on my mood. Im going to use nicotine patches. I have a few questions about it though first for those who have used them.
1. If im still craveing them after the first 8 weeks on "step 1, 21mg of nicotine" can i still wear the step 1 patches insted of going directly to step 2 (12 mg)

2. Where can i put the patch? Anywhere? Or do i have to put it directly over a vien?

3. This sounds like a stupid question but, Can i wear them in a bar around 2nd hand smoke or while drinking? (btw i dont ever get drunk, just a few beers)

And for everyone that has tryed the patch, How did it work for you? and was it hard being around smokers while trying to quit?

1st - CONGRATS on trying. Quitting is tough.

1. If im still craveing them after the first 8 weeks on "step 1, 21mg of nicotine" can i still wear the step 1 patches insted of going directly to step 2 (12 mg) DONT THINK THAT FAR AHEAD BUT THE ANSWER IS YES, YOU CAN CONTINUE WITH THE STRONGER DOSE

2. Where can i put the patch? Anywhere? Or do i have to put it directly over a vien? ANYWHERE WORKS FINE

3. This sounds like a stupid question but, Can i wear them in a bar around 2nd hand smoke or while drinking? (btw i dont ever get drunk, just a few beers) YES THIS WOULD BE FINE

And for everyone that has tryed the patch, How did it work for you? and was it hard being around smokers while trying to quit? I ALWAYS LIKED THE SMELL OF IT WHEN QUITTING.

Listen tot he others and get Chantix! It works and you can do it with the patch too if you want. Chantix really works!

skip the patch and get Chantix from your doctor.

The pathches took the edge off.
But Chantix helped me quit.
