Why does nicotine give you nightmares?

I was told that using a 24hour nicotine patch when you are stopping smoking will give you bad dreams and nightmares.

Can anyone explain how this happens?

Could this mean that getting a nightmare if you dont smoke is caused by some other substance in your body like caffeine or alcohol?

I get nightmares quite a lot, and I am trying to find out what is causing them.

Let me know if you have any ideas!

Thanks

:o)

Im don't really know - but I had the most horrific nightmares on them - would never take them again. Would frankly rather die from lung cancer. Good luck whatever you decide.

yes it can do. if this happens its recommended to use a 16 hr patch that u take off at night.

I've been on the nicotine patches for 9 weeks now and so far I've not had any funny dreams.
