Nicotine on Drug Test???

how can they test for nicotine on a drug test? what if it was second hand smoke?

im in band in highschool and they test for nicotine on a drug test

Nicotine can be detected in habitual smokers using commercially available tests for urine cotinine. Smoking one pack per day of cigarettes will result is a positive test even up to 2-4 days after stopping smoking. The threshold for a positive test is unlikely to be met by a nonsmoker exposed second hand. A casual smoker may not be detected 24 hours after cessation. Nicotine screening is not routinely used in drug testing. An employer may choose to screen however due to the nature of one's job or the higher incidence of health problems associated with smoking.

uh smoking isn't illegal..so I'm not sure what you are worried about?

just because theres nicotine in you doesnt mean you smoke cigs... so chill, if it shows up on a drug test, say its second hand smoke... it wont be a big deal

The levels that they would test for would be higher than you could get into your system by just inhaling second hand smoke.

the levels of nicotine that would show up if it were only 2nd hand smoke would be far less than if you're actually smoking. I'm guessing you're worried about this because you're not 18 and therefore it is illegal for you to smoke?
