Nicotine patches to relax - non smoker?

Will nicotine patches have any effect on my health, other than being addictive? I'm thin already too and don't want to get too thin.

Not a good idea. Nicotine is a stimulant so it won't help you relax, and it will very likely make you sick.

When I was trying to stop smoking once, a nurse I was working with (nonsmoker) heard me talking about how nasty tasting the Nicorette gum was and wanted to try it. She got very nauseated and dizzy and was VERY sorry she tried that! (Smokers often have a similar reaction to their first cigarette.)

why do u want to use Nicotine to relax? The reason smoking is not advised is that nicotine has immediate and long term health impact.
I would not recommend that you use that for relaxation. There are other things.

Not a doctor, so I really can't say. Just wanted to say that recently I had a lobotomy, and tryed a nicotine patch, because I was a smoker before operation. Made me nauseous, had to remove after a few hours. My 2cents is to use Chantix. BUT, it's a Hundred and twenty dollars a month from Walmart, and doctors usually prescribe 6 months worth. No worries for me, just remove half a lung, and viola! I QUIT!LOL! Man, do cigarettes STINK!!!!!!!!!!!! No way to describe it, never smelt anything as bad when I smoked. Except you know how you'll light one up once in a while that JUST stinks? Smells like real bad foot odor, or something? Take that, add the smell of 20 ash trays that haven't been emptied in weeks, put your nose right in the middle, and add the funky pre-described cig. smell. No BULL man, JUST STINKS LIKE H$LL!!!!!!!!!!!

what would make you start using something that you know is addictive and not too healthy?
if you need to relax, try meditation, try Reiki, try yoga, try working out... even if you ARE thin, just eat something to make up for the calories you lost.
oh... and chocolate is also very relaxing and not as addictive as nicotine.
