Niacin Flushing?

I am an ex pot (1 week) and cigarette (2 weeks) smoker. I heard Niacin can flush these toxins out my system AND help with acne. I am 5'3" and under 115 pounds.

I got 500mg pills from GNC. Should I take half a dose or 1/4 to start? What should I expect. Should I take it w/meals.

I've also been taking goldenseal, it helps with my cravings. Should I stop one before taking the other?

Any other things I can do to help get this crap out of me and help the MAD MAD cravings? I cannot do the gum (make me lust for ciggies) and the patch costs too much in my country (The Bahamas).

Thanks for your help.

Also, can someone tell my why I have absolutely NO APPETITE!!! I thought quitting makes you binge...I think I've lost 5 pounds in two weeks. Only can eat fruit and sometimes nibbles of veggies.

Niacin will do some good things like control your blood fats but it will not remove anything. That job is left to your liver. If you take a 500mg non-time release tab. you will get sick to your stomach, perhaps vomit and flush. You need to start out slow, slow, slow. Begin say with 100mg for a couple of days and gradually increase. If you take an asprin 30 min. prior then the flushing is greatly reduced. Stay off the pot, the cigs. and your brain will adjust to the chemistry change since this is where the appetite orginates from in the first place. Hang in there you are doing great things for yourself.

I am an American massage therapist who has started on an acupuncture regimen for my own health & well being, and my wife has seen a marked improvement in me and has told me so. So much so that she has also started her own accupuncture regimen.
I would recommend you get in contact with the following:

He is in Nassau, and I would be very surprised if he couldn't help you with all that you are going through.
