Can any one share his experience of using NIACIN for improving good cholesterol (HDL)? |
My total cholesterol and LDL are well under control. Unfortunately my HDL is also low. My Cardiologist has suggested me to take Niacin. I am concerned about the side effects. Niacin has been proven to raise HDL ("good" cholesterol). Niacin is part of the B vitamen complex, B2. I doubt it effects cholesterol, but it will do no harm. Why do you care if your HDL is low? Probably why your doc gave you a placebo. Miserable stuff. You get the worst side effects from that stuff, the heart punding flushing and general excitability. Run to a new and better cardiologist |
