Neuropathy??

I am a diabetic female taking metformin that is getting pain in my lower legs. It feels like shin splints but I haven't done any rigorous or unusual exercise. I have been tested for nerve damage but I do not have any. My left leg has been numb in some places for about a year now.(they didn't test that leg) The pain maybe started about 5 days ago. I have a hard time falling asleep because of it. I'm trying to get ahold of my neurologist. Please give me some insight to take to the doc, thanks. I've only been diabetic for 6-8 months(well diagnosed anyways) Thanks

My youngest sister was diagnosed with diabetes 30 year ago. She has been in constant pain due to neuropathy for the last 10. Your physician is well aware of neuropathy and pain patients have. Blood circulation is of prime importance when treating neuropathy. My sister walks around her 30 ft. pool for at least one hour a day when the weather permits. The pool is heated, so she is able to do this for almost eight months out of the year. This seems to help her circulation, and alleviate some of the neuropathy. At time, her toes, feet, and lower legs are almost black due to lack of circulation. Severe circulation problems could result in amuptation of extremities.

Your physician may be able to prescribe medication that will help your pain; but, he/she will probably not medicate you to the point of having no feeling. You will have to learn to manage your pain, and live with being diabetic.

My aunt went thru this and it was the medicine she was taking that caused her leg pain. So please tell your doctor the medicine you are taking so he can then know if this is what is causing your pain. I will pray your pain goes away as I saw my aunt cry too much when she went thru this. She is now feeling fine and can walk a little better now.

Get a pain killer from the doc. Stay away from sugar.

Stop taking the allopathic medicine for some time and see if there is any improvement. From http://ailments.in/peripheralneuropathy....

the absolutely best natural way to reverse this neuropathy is to take 600 mg daily of alpha lipoic acid...i have recommended it to several people and it always works,,,on me also.
