Neuropathy in feet and hands? Neurontin?

I am 61 and all of a sudden, I started having numbness in my right big toe. Then to my right foot, then also left foot, and now even my legs tend to vibrate. Went to neurologist. MRI of back came out negative. Has now put me on neurontin 300 mgs 3 times a day. Has anyone taken this and has it helped. I don't know where this neuropathy came from. Right out of the blue and got bad fast. My doctor hasn't tested me for MS yet probably because of my age. I'm scared to death that I'm going to be paralyzed or something. I feel the tingling all the time in my feet. In the beginning it didn't bother me when I laid down but now it does. Any suggestions or hope. Thanks.
P.S. even since this started, I have been having chills - no one seems to make any connection between the chills and neuropathy. Also started having bladder problems at same time. Am so confused.

I took a Neurontin and next day my hands seemed to be kind of numb too. Scares me as I thought it was isolated to my feet and legs. Eye got blurry. And that is only after one pill. Did you have symptoms like that that eventually went away.

I've been taking the same dose since 2003 for nerve damage from a cervical spine injury. I've never had any problem with the drug but I do know that after you take it for awhile you can't just stop. You have to gradually lower the dose according to your doctors instructions.

I've had the tingling, loss of feeling, numbness in my hands and feet for years and have been told it is because of nerve damage.
The feeling of cold and tingling sounds more like circulation problems than nerves.

I'm always concerned about diabetes when my feet get cold and tingle but I was recently tested and everything was fine.

I have found one of the best things I started doing that made me feel better and seemed to help reduce my symptoms was to go out every day and walk. Not fast or any certain distance. Just a nice relaxing casual walk.

My best advise is to do what I started to do when I go to see the doctor. Make a list of all your concerns and make him take the time to address you concerns. I started to feel like at least I was more involved and informed.

I would check out webmd.com and use their symptom finder for more insight.

When you get to be our age things start to down the crapper fast don't they. lol

Good luck my friend

I am 71 and had the same symptoms except I had a burning in my butt and foot and soreness in my left leg.

they put me on neurotin to. The doctor said i had a pinched nerve, and arthritis in my legs?? Who knows? the neurotin helped a little but not much.
