Do I have Neuropathy? |
I've been numb all over, as if i took a really strong pain killer, i've felt this way for 5 days now, i saw my doctor and he told me to see a neurologist, so i got an appointment for monday. I'm only 16, is it possible I have Neuropathy? what else could it be? How serious is neuropathy? I was diagnosed with idiopathic sensory neuropathy last year. It pretty much means they have no idea what is wrong with me and they just told me that. There are so many different symptoms associated with it. The only way to know is to see your neurologist. Make sure you tell him EVERY symptom even if you think it has nothing to do with the problem you are having. Neuropathy normally has an underlying cause such as an auto immune disorder which my neurologist is still trying to find out. I go back Wednesday of next week. But as for being too young, I was only 21 when I was told I have it. You can be prescribed medicines to help you deal with the symptoms, but it doesn't really treat it, just helps out. I really wouldn't worry about it. It's not fatal, although it can be quite annoying. Its really hard to even find much info on the internet about it unless your an AIDS patient, which I'm sure you aren't. Just talk to the doc and ask LOTS of questions. It might be something as simple as you need a little bit more of a certain vitamin! Don't stress about it!! There are other diseases like Lupus and multiple sclerosis which can also give these symptoms. Hopefully, the neurologist can come up with an answer for you. Google: mayo clinic>>diseases & conditions>>peripheral neuropathy. or neuropathy >>muscular. |
