I have diabetic neuropathy, my feet are numb, have pressure, and burn. any relief (besides oral meds)? |
i've been neglecting my type 1 diabetes for 6+ years. recently, i suffered 2 boughts of dka. since they discharged me from icu this past sept., my sugars are better, but my feet seem to have gotten worse. even my hands now tingle, pretty much all day and especially at night, which makes sleeping difficult. i heard they have an operation that eases the pressure off your nerves, but i can't possibly afford that, since i'm not insured (try getting health insurance w/ diabates!). anyhow, the pressure is really bad lately--anybody know of any topical creams or ointments out there that relieve such pressure? heck, i figured once my sugars were under control, the neuropathy would let up some, but to my surprise it's just getting worse w/ every day. any advice will be greatly appreciated. thanks! Some people with similar kind of nerve mediated pain from post-herpetic neuralgia (chronic pain in the skin following a bout of shingles) will experience success with Capsaicin applied topically. These preparations can be purchased over the counter. They tend to initially worsen the pain but then later would provide relief. It does not work on everyone but may be worth a try. No I really don't know of any topical solutions to make it stop but I know what your saying I'm a Type 1 too and done exactly what you done and am now paying the price for it. Have you talked to the medicare and Medicaid office in your area to see if they will cover you if you have no insurance maybe they will call and find out. The only thing with medicare they will have to find you disabled to do it and you may have to pay a little to get it.Good luck call your department of human services for Medicaid. Even though you don't have insurance try to get into a Podiatrist. Your feet could be at risk. Even though you don't have insurance, you should go, it might just save your feet. Get into a doctor (podiatrist) as soon as possible! Go to a neurologist and ask for neurontin or mirapex tablets to soothe your RLS. I did the same as you and suffer too. These pills helped me immensely. The operation, however, is not guaranteed and very costly. I lost all sensation from both knees to my toes. My husband massages my legs and feet nightly and it seems to help, though not always. Try going to a local indoor swimming pool and float around getting the pressure off them for awhile. It works for me, too. Good luck to you! Unfortunately, it sounds like the nerves in your feet have been damaged by prolonged high sugar levels. fix this condition from the inside. take alpha lipoic acid 300 mg tablets two times a day...the burning and numbness and tingling will go away within a week could be even sooner with no side effects; i am taking for 4 years since those same symptoms i once had and they are gone and have never come back,......never.....get it from the health food store..you're welcome!! Hi YOU START TO DO YOGA DAILY IT WILL HELPS YOU LOTS |
