How to treat non-diabetic peripheral neuropathy in my feet?

I have peripheral neuropathy ( numbness) in my feet. I am not a diabetic. I have had this now for 1 1/2 years. The 2 neuroligist I've been to do not know the cause. I've taken Neurontin and it really has been no help. Does anyony know of any kind of treatment program which might include some therapy like electronic stimulation and maybe a more effective drug. I am desperate. This is ruining my life.

pn is caused by nerve damage. as you probably know, nerves are one type of cell in our body that do not regenerate (usually), and the ones that do, do so very slowly. unfortunately there is no easy answer, no miracle treatment or drug. Neurontin would not help you because it is for nerve pain. Obviously since you are numb there is no pain. I am not sure what else there is to tell you, except you should research doctors in your area that are renowned for their work in the field, and go to him/her for another opinion. Just because you do not fit in the normal boundaries of diabetes does not mean you don't have it even type2 diabetes which is sometimes controlled by diet can still cause the underlying problems as full blown type1. Damage cannot be repaired but slowed down by a diet change.

You should undergo Basic investigations, Nerve biopsy, Other investigations, and Nerve conduction studies depending on the cause. We are not aware whether you are having monocuropathy, Multiple curopathy or polyneuropathy. the cause should be diagnosed. try a good general physician who can thoroughly investigate you and get at the root of your numbness of the feet--poor nutrirtional status is usually the cause for these sort of troubles

If I were in your position I would try the cream with capsasin in it. It is made with pepper and the heat might just help to stimulate the nerve system in the area you use it on. I do know it gets HOT.

I would try anything to try to help improve the problem.

Well I think you have nothing to lose by looking into acupuncture too. I've never had it but some who have tried it swear it helps stimulate their nerves in positive ways.

I'm sure that physiotherapy might help too.

the chamber is a pressure treatment that coses you to have better feelings in your feet.
