Birth control options?

Hi everyone, I was wondering what everyones ideas and thoughts were to my current situation. I am 27 yrs old and was diagnosed 8 yrs ago with a neuromuscular disorder and still on several medications to this day to help treat my disorder, (including "the pill") I am about to move in with my fiance and am looking for alternatives and the best way to prevent pregnancy right now. Being on all these other medications I can't start to plan to have a baby, and was told the pill isn't as effective when combined with other meds. Is there anything that I could consider as a better alternative? Has anyone tried an IUD?
Just how effective is the Pill?? With being on a list of medications such as Prednisone, Cell Cept, Mestinon, and others for my disorder, i'm confused is the pill is effective by itself.

I have the Mirena IUD and love it.

Your Dr can tell you which birth control is best for you.

I just recently had the implanon put in. Its an implant they put in your upper arm. it lasts for three years. Of course you can always have it removed before then. I already have two kids and dont want another for quite awhile so this is perfect. I have not gained any weight....no complaints thus far! It is similar to the Norplant they once had before, it literally looks like a little white toothpick, they numb your arm (trust me you feel nothing!) then they insert, put a steri strip over it....your done!!! You cant see it in your arm but you can feel it. No side effects...just wonderful! I wanted to get the IUD but one of my friends is having trouble with it plus it cost her like 600 dollars...ouch! Hope this is some help to you...and I hope your situation improves and one day when your off all those meds and have beautiful healthy children!
