Can neurofibromatosis be surgically removed?

Can neurofibromatosis be surgically removed?

Neuofibromatosis cannot be removed it is the condition or disorder itself. Neurofibromas can be removed, although some do attach themselves to nerves.

Neurofibromas can often be removed. Although usually benign (noncancerous), they can sometimes become cancerous (in an estimated 5% of cases).

Yes..they can be removed surgically. It is a better aidea to have it removed coz these are benign tumors which can later on be health threat. :0

I've had three neurofibromas removed
They can pose a threat, but are most usually benign. You should definitely have them removed and sent to pathology.
It is a simple office procedure, much like having a mole removed. After they are removed, you will probably need stitches.

Depends. Some are easier to remove then other, but on a lot of the tumors, wrap around the nerves, which can be dangerous when removing tumor, it can pose a threat. Which is why doctors may only remove a certain amount of the tumor. Removing the tumor does not however take away the NF, in any way. You will still have it. Also the tumor have a high chance of growing back years later.
