Neuroblastoma - death sentence?

Hi, i was diagnosed in march with neuroblastoma stage 4 (extremley high risk). I have had 7 rounds of chemo (2 clinical trials) non of which have worked.

recently my MIBG scan has shown signs of a new "spot" of disease on the liver...and my prognosis is 10-15%

Is this a death sentence?
(im 15)

it is serious for sure---but not a death sentence 15% change you will be the one who makes it---think positive hard as it may be that you will be one of them---keep fighting but remain positive

Hi Lucie this is ellies nannan and if you go on the neuroblastoma websites .i know youve most probably been through them and know each story off by heart but you will see how many neuroblastoma stage 4 patients do live.So NO its not a death sentence .Never give up . Report It

The neuroblastoma sites are very good for information, even practical information on going through it. As one mother put it: prognosis is either 100% or 0%, there is no inbetween because they don't. Sometimes the patient responds well, other patients don't. Live like it is 100%. Report It

I don't have cancer, but I do have Hepatitis-C and Cirrhosis of
the liver, both are known killers.
I was told eight years ago (after several treatments to kill the virus) that they could do nothing else for me, and without a new
liver I would die. That meant a transplant, and the waiting list for
liver transplant, well shall we say, I'll die waiting..
That was eight years ago, and I wasn't willing to lay there and die.
I sought every bit of info I could find.
I researched, and researched some more.
I studied herbs and have taken them for the past eight years.
I still have the Hep-C, but it's controlled.
I still have Cirrhosis but with no progressive damage.
I stood my ground and made up my mind to fight back AND LIVE.
I know of no one with hep-c and cirrhosis for eight years, to still be alive by doing nothing.. JUST FIGHT BACK..
And may I suggest Essiac Tea, it's a proven, herbal cure for cancer. Thats if you're into herbs..

Try and see if you can get a drs referral to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. They see a lot of kids with Stage IV NB. Don't be concerned about money - St. Jude pays for everything for patient and parent. They will arrange for you to go to Memphis and everything. NB is a very aggressive disease as i am sure you know already. There are kids who have survived it and some who have not. It all depends on the person and the cancer. I wish you the very best of luck and honestly, look into St. Jude. :)
