Is there any cure for optic nerve atrophy in the US? |
I have had optic nerve atrophy ever since I was a kid and now I am about to turn 27. The doctors don't know how I got it. My vision is stable now and can't get any worse but I am legally blind because of it. I have 20/200 in both eyes corrected with glasses and I get headaches all the time. Is there any cure or treatment possibility for this disease now or in the future? Can herbs cure this disease or electrical stimulation? I have been doing research but I cannot find much information on a cure for this disease. My opthomologist says there is no cure but I refuse to believe that, is there any help? Unfortunately, there is no surgical nor medical treatment available to resolve optic atrophy whether total or partial. The optic nerve is a part of the central nervous system and as yet we have not figured out a way to regenerate central nervous system tissue. If we can ever figure out how to regenerate central nervous system nerves then we may be able to develop a treatment. no cure for optic atrophy in ANY country. |
