I've been Diagnosed with RSD does anyone know anything about it.? |
I know it's a nerve disease and i know it causes horrible pain but i've heard eventually it's going to spread threwout my body and kill me. is this true? I'm on Noroco and Opana right now the opana is helping alot more then just the noroco but i'm still hurting. Is this disease one of those things i'm just going to have to suck it up and deal with the pain? I also heard this disease is called the "Suicide disease" cause of the pain. Can anyone tell me something positive... thank you Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy/Complex Regional Pain syndrome is a chronic nerve condition that causes severe pain. For some people the condition will spread, but full body RSD/CRPS is very rare. Also RSD/CRPS will never kill you, and the sooner you begin treatment the better likely hood that you will put your RSD/CRPS into remission. Usually the cause of the pain is a minor injury such as a sprain or break and possibly even surgery, and then the nerves begin to over react after the trauma to the area and cause the severe pain. Pain Medications are typically not very helpful in managing pain, for some people medications like Neurontin, and Lyrica can help with pain. There are many other treatment options out there, finding a good pain management doctor or neurologist who has a good knowledge base of RSD/CRPS and has treated other patients with RSD/CRPS is a good place to start. Sympathetic Blocks, spinal cord stimulator's, physical therapy, epidural catheters, IV infusions etc. are a few treatment options that may help your pain. There are many treatments for the pain that may not completely alleviate your pain, but that will help so the pain is not so severe. Good luck! Reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) or complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), is a chronic, painful, and progressive neurological condition that affects skin, muscles, joints, and bones. The syndrome usually develops in an injured limb, such as a broken leg, or following surgery. However, many cases of RSD involve only a minor injury, such as a sprain. And in some cases, no precipitating event can be identified. |
