Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Sarcoma?

My father was diagnosed in January 1999. He died July 1999. He had been sick for quite a while, we just didn't realize, and his doctors didn't recognize it until it was too late.

Is this type of cancer hereditary? Are there any signs, symptoms, screenings, etc. for this type of cancer?

The doctors were not very helpful, and there just isn't very much information on the internet. Whenever I go for a checkup and tell the doctor about this disease, they give me a funny look, and confess that they have never heard of this cancer. Does anyone have any knowledge about this disease?

Thank you.

There are 54,000 sights on line that cover your question just spell peripheral periphreal or any other way you can think of.

I always go to the Library and look in the Medical Merck Manuals for questions like this. They give you tons of information from symptoms to treatment and known statistics

You might try online using key search words such as hereditary, signs of, symptoms of, screenings for etc; I know this probably doesn't help much either. But the Merck Manual DOES have information you're looking for. Good Luck in Your research.
