Lyme disease? |
Can lymes disease take years to show up? I found a tick on me years ago..i have been having many health problems which is unual..i am only 21. I found some web sites that list like 75 symptoms and it says that if you have 20 of the 75 then its a good possibility you may have lyme disease...anyone have any thoughts on this? my symptoms include back pain , frequent headaches..joint pain, a nerve in my left eyelid twitching, hair thinning.. and there are several more Sometimes. You may have missed the initial symptoms. If there is no question of having Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (or Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome) then Lyme disease is very unlikely. Unless you had a rash around the bite site for a month after the bite. But YES it can take YEARS to show up - mine took 18 months. Report It you would know if you had lymes..you get a HUGE Report It There is a test now for Lymes. Go get it. The sooner you get treatment, the less permanent problems you will have. You shouldn't have any, unless you have ignored it too long. I don't think it takes that long to show up. Symptoms of Lymes Disease can often mimic symptoms of other conditions. I actually had a diagnosis of Lymes Disease for a few months before it turned out that I actually had something else. Look at some of the Rheumatoid Athritis symptoms. They are almost identical to Lymes Disease. If you have Lyme disease, you would likely have many more than 20 of the symptoms. Lyme can affect the eyes and Bell's palsy is not uncommon. I'm not sure about the thinning hair, but the other symptoms fit with possible Lyme disease. Testing for it is not very accurate. There are 2 standards of care for treating it. Most doctors know very little about the more comprehensive standard. Lyme has been called the new great imitator (syphilis was the first). It can mimic many different diseases. |
