Back injury pain? |
broke back, Jan 06,spinal fusion L5-S1 also laminectomy.april 06. Now L5 radiulopothy(nerve damage). Also diagnosed with degenerative disk and joint disease. My wife says, Dude give them the heave -ho ,i have probs in my L5-S1 well ,and i know what u mean my PAIN.Just go to a different doctor or different hospital ,dont wait.Dont take anymore chances with your back I have back pain and other problems from an accident, not as bad a yours but, I go to physical therapy with a therapist WHO can do many neuro-muscular techniques other than exercise. iI am so sorry. I know of wht you speak. i had 3 disks removed in my cervical, neck and 3 cadaver disks put in place with metal plating and fusion and screws. i am in pain all the time. I have a Dr. that treats me for pain. I've been on time released morphine and cortisone shots every 3-5 mos. I hate the shots but they help some after about a week of getting over the pain of the shots. The morphine I know helps but I have psin still almost constant;y. I am trying for disabiolity. It is very depressing. Turned down for LTD at work, they say pre-existing. I would just like relief and to be normal. I'd work 3 jobs to feel better. I use hot soaks in Epsom salts.i have a heat pad in my chair and one on my bed. I use ice...I know it sounds awful and it feels awful but, the ice works on taking the inflamation down. I can't take anti inflamatory drugs or regular pain medecine either. They say elavil helps but it gives me indigestion and I can't take it. Something that does help for sleep which has become my biggest enemy and my most debilitating side effect from the pain is helped by an antipsychotic called Seroquil...it helps me sleep. So, you really need to get to a pain management Dr. and get some help. There is no reason for anyone to suffer like that. Especially after surgery and they know you are in trouble. Also, my bones were degenerating. i had no choice. I had pain for 4-5 yrs. before anyone found the cause and did anything about it. So, I may not be better but, I have to have something hold my head up.....I felt like I was in a no win situation. I had gone to Chiropractor, massage th=erapist, physical therapy, pain management had epidurals on neck before surgery, then had botox, I tried it all. Then I was reffered to a Neurosurgeon and he had a myelogram and when the die goes into your head to take cat scan of your neck it feels like your head is gping to come off, the worst pain ever. i had to be sedated 3 x the normal amount before surgery. Pain meds just don't seem to do me much good. Now my husbands Ins. won't p[ay for the time release pain med so I will have to switch. He told me he would knock me out when my husbands ins. kicks in. I told him he allready tried that and it did not phase me. i went out to eat and to wal mart and home and it didn't make a difference. So, you might have to take something that will shut off the receptors in your braina nd help with the depression your condition causes. Ask the Dr. to try you on either Elavil or the best for me when I want to sleep well, is seroquil. It also helps with the pain. I really feel for you and will pray for you to get the right meds. Sometimes the pain radiates, I have it in my neck but it goes down my back, arms, neck is really bad. headaches, migraines with visual disturbances, under my arms and down to lower back from sitting and not being able to lie in bed like normal. So try to just find some relief and deal with any other issues later. They won't usually operate anyhow ir you are in the shape you are in. Just work on relief and depression. I pray you will see a DR. who will get you at least to the point you can stand it. Good luck. Love coming your way.By the way mine was done in 5-05 and it was he** from then till now and still is. So it won't be a quick process, don';t think you are going to be normal again. Just concentrate on getting relief and sleep and eat well. |
