sorry I left out that I have lupus sle/nephritis.. IM thinking this could be related to it duhhh. but what can I do to stop getting shingles over and over?

One possibility is that you take steroids for your sle/ neph. That will lower your natural immunity. As antiviral drugs are not 100% effective, there are chances of flare ups when the virus becomes active. You may ask your doc if it is possible to keep the steroids to the minimum needed. That may help. With your other problems, nothing much can be done, but I hope this will be enough. Yoga & Pranayam are known to boost up immunity.
