Was it a neck injury? |
Earlier this year, I fell skiing. I hit my tailbone before flipping over onto my head, which seemed to take all the momentum as I stopped instantly. I was fine the rest of the night (except my rear hurt) until I woke up the next morning and couldn't move so I went back to sleep thinking I was just super stiff. When I woke up later I was stiff but could move although it was hard. Then about 12 hours later I was watching tv when I realized I couldn't move again, and I just took a nap then because I had no clue what was going on. I was very stiff for about a week and half and then thought I was fine. But then I started getting really bad dizzy spells randomly. I thought I got over them, until I had 2 this week. I can't ever remember getting a headache. But after a couple days, I did realize the back of my neck was bruised. Depending on how your head impacted could increase your likelyhood of a spinal injury. Hyperflexed, hyperextended, or axial loaded (like standing and having something fall directly on your head). You could have broken something in your neck. It's not uncommon for people to even be misdiagnosed after xrays and go for a couple days until a radiologists see's their xray and calls them at home. Also you could have ligament damage in your neck. Either way you could be getting a pinched nerve. I'd at least go to a chiropractor. Not a big fan of them, but they are good for somethings. Hope this helps. go see a doctor. You might have had a concussion. You should really have seen a doctor when the incident happened. Now you should go see one to find out why you are still having headaches. This isn't normal. This could be serious, and only your doctor can tell you what it is. AND, if it isn't serious, he MAY send you to a chiropractor, if he believes in them. But don't bet your life on the ramblings of someone who doesn't really know, okay? Please don't go see a doctor. They will recommend surgery and possibly mess up your neck for life. It has happened to friends of mine. Instead, see a chiropractor and get your spine realigned. The accident may have produced a curvature of the spine which happened to me (57 degrees off). I suffered for months with involuntary tears, severe headaches, and neckaches. After the first treatment, I felt like I was going to live again. Your insurance may cover these treatments. I wish you the best and please don't put it off! I know you don't want to hear this, but GO DIRECTLY TO A DOCTOR. I broke my neck in a car accident and thanks to immediate medical attention, i am fine. I broke the same vertebrae as "Superman". Your spinal cord is full of nerves that have to be protected. You could have a leak of fluid, a slipped something or other. This could be the rest of your life.... If your spinal cord is compromised, future damage could result in never walking down the isle at your wedding, running to catch your child or breathing on your own. I know this is not a medical answer, but i know what I am talking about! Please go now! i was in a car wreck about 3 years ago and messed my neck up pretty bad i went to the hospital i was on physical therapy for 6 months the headaches dizzyness and stiffness are sure signs of a neck injury now i am not a doctor but i whould suggest muslce relaxers and some physical therapy it will help in the long run and yes if left alone it could get worse with time and age, u might notice more soreness and stiffness when the weather gets cold or rainy. goodluck to you and i know what your going through It's hard to diagnose a problem like this over the Internet but it sounds to me like the dizziness you're experiencing now and your skiing accident could be related vs. having some type of viral infection or inner ear infection. |
