Ice or heat or something else for neck/shoulder injury? |
I did something not good to my neck/shoulder recently, now I have very limited range of motion and an intense pain when i move it and sometimes a constant throbbing pain. The area isn't tender and the pain is either a sharp jab or throbbing and still sharp...please help i think it is getting worse... try heat 1st...it helps relax the muscles in case you may have a pinched nerve (which is kinda what it sounds like) or maybe some bengay, but if it goes longer than about 3 or 4 days...go to the dr...you may have done something worse...perhaps a herniation or a slipped disk. I would suggest heat. Heat will penetrate to the muscles that you probably strained and will help relax them. Try Thermacare heat wraps (those feel so good) or, try a hot water bottle. Don't really ice it, it will just tense it more. That happened to me a while back.... I used those icy/hot patches and they worked pretty good. |
